Eagle Football Team Sets School Record

Coach Brad Gordon and the MZHS Football team defeated the No. 1 Class A team, Manchester High School, in the "Elite Eight" contest on Friday evening, November 24th in a stunning 10-6 "thriller" where the Eagles battled from behind with no time outs and 1:55 left in the game.  QB CJ Ackles connected with junior RB Iaan Cousin for a touchdown pass that would pull the Eagles to a last minute lead that Manchester could not overcome.  With a successful PAT by Matthew Tittle, the final score was 10-6 and the Eagles defense held strong to end the season for the No. 1 ranked Manchester team.

The Eagles set two school records, becoming the first team in school history to make it's first ever state semi-final berth.  In addition, the team also was the first to win 10 games in a single season.

Congratulations to the team and coaches for a great performance and good luck as they travel to Clinch Co. Friday, Dec 1 for the Final Four contest.
