The Cultural Arts Division of the Carrollton Parks and Recreation held the 2017 High School Creative Writing Competition Award Ceremony on March 7, 2017. The contest is an opportunity for students to share their literary talents and be awarded for their efforts. Out of 250 entries Carroll County students won all seven categories and were awarded cash prizes for their entries. This year the program was sponsored by the Carrollton Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department, the Fulford Family Foundation, and Jill Duncan with State Farm.

Congratulations to MZHS's senior Brittany Shadix who received the CWG Choice Award ($150) for her short story entry entitled, “A Beautiful Death”.
