Ackles, Akin, Knight and Hennesy Named to Region 6 Team
The Mount Zion High School softball team landed four players on the All-Region 6 Team, highlighted by three first-team selections in Taylor Knight, Jordan Ackles and Jacey Akin, while Josie Hennesy earned second-team honors.

Knight, a junior first baseman, led the Lady Eagles with a .484 batting average and also had a team-best six home runs and 36 RBI. Akin, a sophomore shortstop, hit .424 with 13 doubles and a team-leading eight triples. Ackles, a junior pitcher/infielder, posted a .419 average with four home runs, 15 doubles and 23 RBI. In the circle, Ackles struck out 84 batters in 147.2 innings of work with a 3.43 ERA.

Hennesy, a junior catcher/infielder, hit .343 on the year with 18 RBI and 13 stolen bases.

The Lady Eagles reached the elite eight in Columbus this fall in the Class A Public School state playoffs.
